Tata Intra is a new launch by Tata Motors in the market that has turned all heads. This truck has set a benchmark with its bold styling and premium new features with a powerful 1.4 liter diesel engine along with a superior payload capacity of 1100 kg.
The Tata Company has offered two variants under the Tata Intra range of trucks and they are – V10 and V20. The Tata Intra range falls in the small commercial vehicle range. The price of Tata Intra V20 is Rs 5.85 lakh which is around 50 thousand higher than it’s smaller version Intra V10.
This vehicle has a BS-IV compliant 798 cc engine displacement and its GVW is 2110 kg. The maximum power it can throw out is 40 bhp @ 3750 rpm. It has 2 engine cylinders and the type of engine is direct injection. The maximum torque offered by this vehicle is 96 Nm @ 1750-2500 rpm. The transmission type is manual for this vehicle.
The Tata Intra has a decent gradeability of 43% along with a turning radius of 4750 mm. In terms of its design and build, it has a half body along with chassis with cabin. The cabin type offered is day. It offers the front tyre and the rear tyre with 165 R14 LT. The wheelbase of this truck is 2250 mm and its overall length is 4282 mm.
The safety factors are also taken into major consideration for this vehicle. It has semi elliptical leaf spring for the front and rear suspension. The brakes offered are disc brakes. It also has ABS, parking brakes, fog lights, power steering, tubeless tyres, seat belts and hill hold for ultimate safety and comfort of the driver while driving on difficult terrains. Other features such as AC, cruise control,navigation system,driver information display, telematics, adjustable driver’s seat, tiltable steering and arm rest are also provided. The Tata Intra also has charging socket, lockable glove box, a standard music system with Radio, AUX-IN and USB connectivity, and a fully digital instrument cluster, offering read-outs for speedometer, odometer, time, fuel gauge, and a segment-first gear shift indicator, or as Tata calls it Gear Shift Advisor.
The vehicle also has a decent sized deck provided for easier transport of goods and products. A load deck of 2512 mm in length and 1602 mm wide with a 463 mm depth satisfies any customer with standard needs.
The factors mentioned above apply the same for both variants. However, the Tata Intra V20 has 1396 cc engine tuned to churn out 69 bhp at 4000 rpm and develop a peak torque of 140 Nm at 1800-3000 rpm. It has a 5 speed manual gearbox paired with cable shift mechanism. On the other hand, the Tata Intra V10 has 800 cc, two-cylinder motor which develops 39 bhp at 3750 rpm and 90 Nm at 1750 – 2500 rpm and is mated to a four-speed gearbox.
Tata Trucks in India has released this model quite tactically in order to compete with its rivals. It competes with the LCVs of the Piaggo Porter range and the Mahindra Supro range.
